| Abstract | We report the texture evolution of CeO/sub 2/ thin films epitaxially grown on yttria-stabilized-zirconia (YSZ) and Ni substrates using inorganic cerium salts as starting materials. The effect of organic solvents on the precursor solution properties is discussed. Inorganic cerium nitrate dissolved in different solvents and chelating agents were spin-coated and annealed. CeO/sub 2/ films grown on YSZ substrates showed an enhancement of the out-of-plane texture when thermal annealing process was carried out in an oxidizing atmosphere. Texture analysis revealed that a bi-axially aligned cube-textured CeO/sub 2/ buffer layer could be grown over a wide processing temperature range. High temperature annealing is most beneficial for improvement of the in-plane texture. The results suggest an effective new low-cost way to fabricate CeO/sub 2/ thin film templates for YBCO coated conductors. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
