| Abstract | Summary form only given. The growing needs of high power microwaves (HPM) both in the commercial and scientific levels lead to the emergence of HPM as a new technology in the recent years. Two related trends are observed in the development of the HPM technology, first, the improvements of the conventional devices such as BWO, Klystron, Magnetrons, etc. And the second trend is the inventions of new type of HPM devices capable of supporting the present and possible future applications. Among the developed HPM sources, BWOs are the first microwave sources capable of harnessing the kinetic energy of the relativistic electron beam (IREB) to produce coherent microwave radiation in the frequency range of 9-30 GHz. Recently, as a resonating structure of BWO, sinusoidally corrugated slow wave structure (SWS) are successfully used to generate HPM because of their durability to the RF breakdown. In this study, the basic quantities associated with a SWS have been studied by varying the size parameters of the structure. The dispersion curves both in real and complex frequency domains have been investigated elaborately. The growth rate that has been considered as a measure of the performance of the BWO devices is also calculated for different values of the size parameters of the SWS. The simulated results are discussed with due consideration of the recent experimental observations. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT).
