Abstract	It is very important to research the spatial distribution of mountain temperature for the rational use of mountain climate resources. The Three Gorges Reservoir Area is separated by mountains, with complex topography and typical feature of mountain temperature. Facing the few climate data sites in mountain area, the professional interpolation software for meteorology data (ANUSPLIN) is used to achieve the point data to surface, and it is used to develop a gridded temperature for the Three Gorges Reservoir Area at a resolution of 500 meters in latitude and longitude. The Latitude and longitude are used as the independent spline variables, and the elevation above sea-level (digital elevation model-DEM) is used as the independent covariate. The fitted surfaces are able to generate an estimate of temperature conditions for any location in the country where three independent topographic variables are available, and considering the influence of elevation. The ANUSPLIN is very useful to promote the interpolation accuracy and precision to the mountain area.
