| Description | The publication of the research bulletin annually by the Assam Institute of Research for Tribals and Scheduled Castes,Assam is one of regular academic activities. This is the 9th issue of the bulletin. In this issue, apart from the research article contributed by the faculty members of the Institute, research articles from Promode Goswami, Ex. Chief Conservator of Forest, Assam and MP Hazarika, Director, Information and Public Relations, North eastern Council, Shillong, were also incorporated. A note containing information and type of activities undertaken by the Institute was also incorporated in the Bulletin for the general information. Altogether 9 research articles were incorporated in this issue covering various aspects of life and culture of the tribal people as well scheduled tribe population of Assam. The paper of Bordoloi deals with the identification of families below poverty line among tribal communities of NE India. The success of poverty alleviation schemes or programmes so far as income generating family oriented schemes are concerned depend on correct identification of families below poverty line. The socio cultural dimension of scheduled castes development was presented by GC Sharma Thakur. Socio cultural development of scheduled castes depends largely on mutuality and it is largely visible in the present day Indian inter and intra society relations especially in the urban society. Promod Goswammi elaborately discussed about problems and prospects of shifting cultivation in the hills areas of Assam. M P Hazarika discussed about integrated development of NE region and North Eastern Council. M C Saikia briefly highlighted the constitutional provisions and reservations of scheduled castes and scheduled tribes as a whole. The article of BK Hazarika deals with the socio economic conditions of scheduled castes or Kaibarta families of Rajaduar Manikeswar village of North Guwahati, Assam. The findings and suggestions of socio economic survey in the Hidipi mini compact area project were incorporated by G N Das. P Dutta made a review on the project report on Dying of Fish and Meat for Scientific Preservations with reference to the methods used by Plains tribes of Brahmaputra valley. In his article AC Nath made an attempt to study the various techniques applied by the tribal people of Assam in the weaving of basket and mats. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
