| Abstract | The report discusses about dermatoglyphics which means different finger patterns and their intensity. The study is made on Konda Reddi population. Finger ball prints of man are classified in three-fold Henry-Galtons scheme of Arch-Loop-Whorl, but no single observation has been so far achieved regarding the exact assessment of the strength of the basic genetical factors responsible for these finger ball patterns. It has also been realised that the genetical factors responsible for whorl finger ball configuration is stronger than those for loop and arch. the order goes like this whorl-loop-arch based on the genetical factor. It is a multifactorial hereditary mechanism and free from parakinetic influences. The differentiation of dermatoglyphics occurs during first month of intra-uterine life and remains same during life span. These features are not influenced by assortative mating and genetic drift, hence can be employed for study of population genetics. Whorls are most frequently occurring patterns on hand than loops and arches as they are controlled by large no genes. Whereas arches are more common patterns on toes. The present study of digital dermatoglyphics is meant for finding out the physical types of Konda Reddis. 67 samples of men and 55 samples of women were collected from unrelated persons. Cummins and Midlo technique were used in analysing the samples. It is observed that males have high frequency of whorls than females. ulnar loop, radial loop and arches frequency is more in females than males. The pattern intensity index of males and females of Konda Reddis are close and the difference is not significant, though males possess slightly higher index. Arches are completely absent in both males and females. |
