| Description | The mention of Podu Cultivation takes the author back to 1950s when he had the first glimpse of fires it by Podu cultivators on Podu clearings on the verdant hills on either side of the Godavari garage from the old railway bridge spanning the river Godavari at Rajahmundry while travelling on a slow passenger train at a last summer night. Several years later on both sides of the valley stood barren hills completely shorn off natural vegetation as mute memorials of in estimable damage caused by the Podu cultivation the hill slopes. In this project the introduction chapter contains the proposal for consideration of Andhra Pradesh Tribal Development Project (APTDP) as a second tribal development project in India on the request of Government of India has been agreed by IFAD Rome and a loan agreement between India and International Fund for Agriculture Development was entered on May 15 1991. The APTDP became effective in August, 1991. The impact evaluation study was undertaken during January 97 to June 97 to access the benefits that have accrued to tribals are a result of the project with the following general objectives. And specific objectives of study is selection of village/ households multiple stratified random sampling method was employed for selection of sample villages. The stratification of the project villages was first done ITDA wise due to varied geo-ethnic milieu and its differential impact of the project on the target population and also used some methods case studies, limitations ., socio-cultural economic and demographic profiles of study villages. Chapter 2 and 3 deals with the natural resource development and soil /water conservation and horticulture and arable crop development. Community participation:- The project encourages self help and reliance with in the communities. Formation of villages institution and self help is envisaged under project. The project provided 2:1 contribution to the thrift and credit group after the first year of operation. Project management:- The management of all the activities under the project is done through as 3 tier structure (1) at state level (2) at ITDA level and ( 3) at micro water shed and village level. National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
