| Description | The book entitled Purbanchalor Bhasa Sahitya aru Sanskriti is an edited volume felicitating Dr. Pramod Chandra Bhattacharya, for his life time contributions made towards Assam Institute of Research for Tribals and Scheduled Castes, as well as the tribal communities of Assam through his published works. He voiced for a systematic study of tribal language and literature, and made his mark for his contributions and encouragement towards systematic learning of the Bodo language. Passionate about tribal research and ethnic studies, he had also proposed about according the status of a Deemed University to the Tribal Research Institute, Assam now Assam Institute of Research for Tribals and Scheduled Castes in the year 1992 to the then Chief Minister of Assam, Lt. Hiteswar Saikia during his lecture on the day of inauguration of the new building of TRI, Assam. The Institute remains indebted to him for his untiring efforts and contributions for the cause of indigenous and tribal communities, as well as for the Institute, and decided to come up with a book containing scholarly articles on various topics that he loves to read and work on. The book is divided into two sections first section is in Assamese language that comprises of 25 articles while the second section is in English language and comprises of 5 articles. All the articles contributed by well established, noted authors and researchers are related to the life and culture of the broader Assamese society where focus has been laid on different indigenous communities, ethnic groups, tribal literature, feminist literature, religious groups and sects, apart from a mosaic of such related topics. |
