| Description | The survival and sustainability of human society depends on the health and well-being of its members. Society has been exploring ways to eradicate sickness and human suffering since ancient times. Primitive man began to use medicinal plants to overcome the various ailments he faced. Most of the tribals do not accept drugs other than those prescribed by their ethnic-doctors. Ethnomedicine plays an important role in tribal health care. It has, in fact become an integral part of the culture of the people. Ethnomedicine beliefs and practices are influenced by various cultural factors. In tribal system, there is deep relationship between culture, medicine and belief. Tribal people have evolved their unique way of identifying medicinal plants and using them to treat a particular disease. The book depicts the ethnomedicines which is used in Headache, eye, nose, teeth, breathing, heart, stomach, liver, skin, women related problems. The book also provides the general fevers and tribal health care practices. General fevers, malaria, dog bites, snake bite, bone fractures, knee pains, diabetics and filaria etc. related illnesses medicinal details are also provided in this book. Petalidium Barleriodies, Hygrophilla Auriculata, Albizia Amara Annona Squamosa, Strychnos nux-vomica, Aloe Barbedensis, Datura Metel, Ocimum Tenuiflorum Phyllanthus Reticulatus, Sphaeranthus Indicus etc medicines are using for head related illness. Euphorbia Hirta, Argemone Mexicana, Gymnema Sylvestre, Solanum Nigrum, Rauvolfia Serpentina, Strychnos Potatorum medicinal plants are using for eye related illnesses. Cardiospermum Halicacabum, Hemidesmus Indicus, Asparagus Racemosus, Gloriosa Superba, Pterocarpus Santalinus medicinal plants are using for heart related diseases. Nymphaea Nouchali, Cuminum Cyminum, Curcuma Longa, Trianthema Portulacastrum medicinal plants are using for live related diseases. This book also provides the preparation of drugs and usages. The preparation of drugs and medicine among the tribal communities is really an art. Most of the tribal medicines are prepared either from single drug occurred from single plant or plant parts. The combination with other plant rock, mineral etc. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
