Abstract	'The Inner Eye' is a short documentary film on Benode Behari Mukherjee, a blind artist and a teacher from Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan. The twenty-minute documentary features the life and works of Mukherjee in the form of paintings and photographs, starring himself. The film follows his life as a student of Nandalal Bose to his journey to Japan where he learned from acclaimed Japanese artists and ends with Mukherjee's own words, "Blindness is a new feeling, a new experience, a new state of being". The documentary was awarded as Best Information Film (Documentary) at the 20th National Film Awards in 1972. The manuscript has Ray's handwritten field notes on the film. His accurate planning of every scene is carefully presented in the manuscript. It goes on to prove why he is the master filmmaker.
