Abstract	'Two' is a 12-minute black-and-white short film. The story is about two kids who are playing on their own. They belong to two different sections of the Indian society and the film is shot from the view of the rich kid. The movie starts with the rich kid who is bored at home despite his collection of foreign toys, balloons and cold drinks. He hears a flute playing and observes a poor kid playing that across his window. Soon, the kids start competing with their respective toys. The film ends with the poor kid happily flying his kite but just momentarily, as the rich kid shoots the kite down with his air rifle. Though a short film, Two has several underlying themes – suppression of the poor, war, consumerism and greed. In this manuscript, Satyajit Ray mentions how the rich kid is wearing a Mickey Mouse cap and drinks Coca Cola while the poor kid holds a kite that the former shoots down towards the end. Ray has commented about each scene and made tiny sketches of them by the side. It is interesting to see his craftsmanship.
