Abstract | A reliability assessment method, called the GO method, is introduced to the field of protective relay system reliability assessment. And the protective relay system of the 500kV power grid of Zhejiang Province of China is taken as an example. The research result shows that we can analyze the system quantitatively and accurately based on the traditional GO method. However, when the system contains shared signals, the traditional GO method will become very complicated. Based on the traditional method, a modified GO method is proposed to solve the disadvantages of the conventional GO method. In addition, the fault tree analysis method is used to analyze the same system, and the analysis results are completely in accordance with the modified GO method. In the end, the three methods are compared and the comparison shows that the modified GO method has superior performance over the traditional GO method and the fault tree analysis method. We hope that we can contribute to the application of the modified GO method to the power system field via the work of this paper. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community.
