Abstract | It is critically important for improving the wide area situation awareness of the operators or operational engineers and regional reliability coordinators of a large interconnected systems to prevent large scale cascading system outages. This paper describes an advanced wide-area power system visualization application (WAPSVA) for the real-time reliability monitoring using real-time synchrophasor measurements and for the post event analysis using historical synchrophasor measurements related to the large system events. This paper also presents a very useful feature which will allow a large number of users to perform the near real-time event replay a few seconds after a new large event occurs in a large interconnected power system. This wide area power system visualization application can also show the location, magnitude and the related event message on the visualization display in real-time by integration with the on-line event triggering and location of disturbance applications. The main performance challenges of the visualization application include how to efficiently handle large volume of synchrophasor measurements and how to support large number of concurrent users for performing real-time reliability monitoring, near real-time event replay or post event analysis. This paper describes the technologies used in the WAPSVA application to meet the challenging performance requirements. The technologies include the memory residence object oriented database, event oriented database and Smart Client. The system architecture, the technical approaches and the solution algorithms used in this visualization application are described in detail. This visualization application has been integrated and tested using the simulated synchrophasor measurements and the real time synchrophasor measurements of Eastern Interconnections at the TVA Super Phasor Data Concentrator (SPDC). The performance of the initial testing is very encouraging and the test results are presented in this paper. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.

NDLI is a conglomeration of freely available or institutionally contributed or donated or publisher managed contents. Almost all these contents are hosted and accessed from respective sources. The responsibility for authenticity, relevance, completeness, accuracy, reliability and suitability of these contents rests with the respective organization and NDLI has no responsibility or liability for these. Every effort is made to keep the NDLI portal up and running smoothly unless there are some unavoidable technical issues.
Ministry of Education, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT), has sponsored and funded the National Digital Library of India (NDLI) project.
