NDLI: The Participation of Social Organizations in the Environmental Reconstruction after Wenchuan Earthquake

Abstract	From one of the worst catastrophes of the century -Wenchuan earthquake, the environmental reconstruction effects of social organizations are evaluated in the paper. Social organizations are always engaged in spreading knowledge and mobilizing the public, so as to accumulate social capital for environmental reconstruction. Some social organizations will assess the environmental impact of the disaster, and undertake ecological programs. In the future, China's domestic social organizations are supposed to accelerate their process of role-transformation from "propagator" to "advocator", and step towards the way of "check and balance" by means of public participation. Social organizations should carry out the strategic measures focusing on their responsibility of environmental improvement, and promote the experts and think-tank to provide professional services. What is more, it is significant for social organizations to communicate with the government agencies and try to construct the legal and political environment in favor of the development of social organizations, and thus establish their cooperative relationship.
