NDLI: Technology Integration - An Approach to Accelerate Technology Transfer in CNPC

Abstract	Technology Integration makes a significant contribution to the oil companies' business success. There are two types of technology integration being identified in oil industry: one focus on technology development which played as a novel R&D approach and the other focus on technology application which viewed as a new production pattern. The challenge to promote effective technologies transfer and maximize the commercial value of established advanced technologies within CNPC has met through the implementation a strategic plan call "Technology Tangibility". The essential to the plan is technology integration, which is not the same with the prior two types of technology integration, but a new type of technology integration identified in oil industry. "Technology Tangibility" focuses on turning new developed technology or existing effective key technologies to their application through integrating individuals technologies into an integrated technology package. By implementation of function integration, information integration and distribution integration, Technology Tangibility enables the original technologies to be standardization and formalization and presents an visible offerings and perceivable value to the end-users. Business benefit is realized through accelerated technology transfer as a result of improved communication efficiencies and lowered barriers to adopt.
