Abstract | To increase the fault tolerance for cascaded H-bridge inverter, this paper presents a novel switch-based control method for operating the inverter when one or more switches are damaged. To control the inverter under faulty mode, only the faulty switches are disposed, the control signals for other switches in the faulty cell are modified according to the fault type. The influence of various faults on space vectors is analysed and the maximum achievable output voltage of the inverter with faulty switches is calculated. Compared with existing cell-based control methods, this method generates higher voltage space vector magnitudes and reduces the influence of switch problems on motor operation in most faulty modes, while keeping producing a balanced line to line voltage, the reliability of the system is then enhanced. National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
