Abstract	In order to find the effective method from the source that will provide solution to the problems of environmental pollution caused by the packaging industry so that the material resources may be used sufficiently and effectively, and the idea of packaging with green environment-friendly materials may be rationally and optimally applied to the domain of design. This article shall begin with discussing the environmental protection value of several materials; explore the realization and application approach of environment-friendly materials in the creative design of packaging by citing the cases of application of the features of materials in the design of packaging. I draw conclusion that green design is characterized with high sustainability, environmental protection, being economical and unique aestheticism. To expand and induce the green environmental protection idea in the design of packaging and material selection blazes the trail of the mindset of the design of packaging and meet the design demand of sustainable production.
