| Abstract | In this paper longitudinal distribution of Ar metastable atom density and its time development have been measured by LAS (laser absorption spectroscopy) in argon microplasma jet and the relationship between its behavior and emission characteristics was studied. Thin Pylex glass tube with inside diameter of 1.25 mm was used for the nozzle and Ar gas was flowed out with flow rate of 1 to 30 L/min. Ar plasma was initiated at the end of the nozzle with DBD using nickel wire electrodes wound on the outside of the nozzle tube with distance between anode and cathode of 10 mm. Applied voltage waveform was rectangular and the typical frequency was 90 kHz and peak voltage was 1.9 kV. Visible plasma jet length was about 1 to 2 cm. The laser absorption signal was observed only at the rise and fall edges of the applied voltage. During the fall edge, a dense spot of metastable atoms propagated towards the downstream and it became under the detection limit at 7 mm from the end of the nozzle at the typical flow rate condition of 2 L/min. Emission spectra measurement showed $N_{2}$ 2nd positive band emissions were enhanced from the position of around 7 mm to the downstream, whereas Ar emissions were dominant in the area less than 7 mm. Moreover, ICCD gated images showed the bright part propagated with similar velocity (7 km/s) until the area around 7 mm, then the "bullet-like" bright point became apparent and accelerated (28 km/s). These results support the energy transfer from Ar metastable to $N_{2}$ occurs towards the downstream. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.

NDLI is a conglomeration of freely available or institutionally contributed or donated or publisher managed contents. Almost all these contents are hosted and accessed from respective sources. The responsibility for authenticity, relevance, completeness, accuracy, reliability and suitability of these contents rests with the respective organization and NDLI has no responsibility or liability for these. Every effort is made to keep the NDLI portal up and running smoothly unless there are some unavoidable technical issues.
Ministry of Education, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT), has sponsored and funded the National Digital Library of India (NDLI) project.
