| Abstract | The influence of radio frequency identification (RFID) devices on everyday life is growing rapidly powered by an expanding number of applications in supply chain management, identification documents (such as passports), event tickets, and contactless payments. RFID systems use a combination of radio-driven tags and readers to discover the identity of an object or person. Recently, UHF band RFID systems are becoming a standard for supply chain management because they are able to provide high reading speed, capable of multiple accesses, anti-collision and long read range compared to other frequency band RFID systems [1]. In RFID systems, tags are usually attached to the object that is to be identified. If the object has significant effects on nearby electromagnetic fields, the operation of the tag antenna is likely to be affected. Therefore, one of the most challenging problems for RFID systems is to optimize the antenna performance in complex environments containing water or metallic items. Since metal and water are common constituents of the objects that RFID is used to track, this problem is called the metal-water problem [2]. Metallic surfaces or objects in the vicinity of the antenna affect antenna properties including radiation pattern, input impedance, resonant frequency, and radiation efficiency [3]. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
