Abstract | Almost all the portable gadgets we use today, from mobile phones to laptops, needs to be connected to the Internet. But in this fast paced life, access to the Internet, on the move, is required. In this project we try to achieve this objective by developing a system which will share the 3G/2G broadband connection of an Android phone with multiple other Bluetooth enabled devices. Android with 3G connection can acts as a wireless (Bluetooth) access point and router, technically it is a PAN (Personal Area Network) server in a Bluetooth ad hoc net- work. This feature of Internet tethering over Bluetooth makes it possible to share one 3G mobile broadband connection of Android phone with multiple other Internet accessible devices, such as Smart phones, computers or the latest generation tablets, which supports Bluetooth. Even though this network has lower speed compared with other established networking technologies, we can still use it as a cheaper networking solution when other alternatives like Wi-Fi aren’t available which is very often (when one is on the go). Our system is designed in such a way such that it consumes minimal resources and is compatible with most of the Bluetooth enabled Android mobile phones available in the market today. |
