| Abstract | Over the years, the task of retrieving trip related information from large datasets; typically the web scale datasets has received tremendous attention. The above trend can be attributed to the coming up and easy availability of the web world-over followed by the conception of the idea of social networking, photo sharing etc. This has prompted the users to share data: textual, audio and visual online. The idea of data sharing on such a large scale in-turn triggers the idea of development of several applications to provide to the users certain relevant information taking as the input the information or a part of the information shared on such platforms. This project involves designing one such application which aims at providing to the users some basic information about the tourist spots of any particular genre (for example: historical, recreational etc.) selected by them or tourist spots in the area selected by them if no specific genre is sought. It can be clearly seen that the above idea involves the concepts of data mining and information retrieval. In this paper we study about designing an application which takes as an input, a query in the form of the name of a place or the geo-tags(latitudes and longitudes of the place) and constraints in terms of the distance and time and intends to provide to the user as an output the information about the place or places of similar genre. |
