Abstract | Prediction of syngas compositions, the most important parameter in determining the product's grade and quality control of raw syngas produced in coal gasification, was studied. A neural estimator model based on dynamic principal component analysis (DPCA), back-propagation (BP) networks, and multi-scale analysis (MSA) was proposed to infer the syngas compositions from real process variables. DPCA was carried out to select the most relevant process features and to eliminate the correlations of input variables; multi-scale analysis was introduced to acquire much more information and to reduce uncertainly in the system; and BP networks were used to characterize the nonlinearity of the process. A prediction of the syngas compositions in Texaco coal gasification process was taken as a case study. Research results show that the proposed method provides promising prediction reliability and accuracy, and supposed to have extensive application prospects in coal gasification processes. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
