| Abstract | This article presents a study on the effects of the Basque-language the Bikoteka Irakurtzen programme, based on peer tutorials, which aims to improve reading comprehension by getting students into pairs and assigning them the roles of tutors and tutees. The study adopts an ecological approach by combining a quasi-experimental design without a control group and a content analysis of the interviews and discussion groups conducted with the students and teachers. The results show gains in reading comprehension and self-image which are explained by qualitative data. |
