| Abstract | This paper presents a peer tutoring experience conducted in two Primary Education classrooms. The aim of this study is to analyze the effects of this method on students' reading comprehension and social skills. First year students (tutees) and third year students (tutors) were matched to work reading skills cooperatively. The research combines a quasi-experimental pretest postest no control group with information gathered through interviews and focus groups. The quantitative analysis was carried out by implantation of the Student-t test and qualitative analysis through a content analysis. Results show statistically significant improvements in the reading comprehension skills of the tutees and the social skills of both, tutors and tutees. These results are consistent with those found in the qualitative analysis. |
