| Abstract | Smart distribution grid means that the electric power supply corp. can control power distribution intelligently, interact with every consumer in real time and realize multi-network integrated. Accordingly, power fiber to the home is one of the best system solutions. In this paper, optical fiber composite low-voltage cable together with Ethernet passive optical network was designed for realizing the purpose of power fiber to the home. This cable was made up of two parts. One is copper conductors for electric power distributing, another is optical fiber for two-way information exchange and interaction, including feedback of consumer's demands and Utilities response in real time, remote ammeter reading, technical data of power distribution sampling and electricity consumption information collecting. In the meantime, multi-network integrated, such as electric power, CATV or IPTV, internet and telecommunication, is available by smart distribution grid based on power fiber to the home with optical fiber composite low-voltage cable and Ethernet passive optical network. In order to build up this smart distribution grid, the principle of Ethernet passive optical network and the characteristics of optical fiber composite low-voltage cable have been analyzed and discussed in this paper. The research results proved that the transmission distance of Ethernet passive optical network is about 20 km, its two-way transmit speed is about 1 G bps and it supports more than 1024 optical network units with 1:64 optical splitting ratio. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
