Description	In this chapter, the author talks about the cities of India. Each place is famous for different reasons. Like the Himalayas, India has a chain of lovely health resorts. Among the most popular of them is Srinagar, the capital of Kashmir. Equally famous for its shawls and scenic beauty, Srinagar stands on the banks of the river Jhelum and has canals running through the city. An interesting holiday can be spent in Srinagar on a houseboat on the Dal Lake, which is surrounded by trees and snow-clad mountains. Kolkata is popularly known as the 'City of Palaces', for its buildings are taller and more impressive than those of any other city. Among the holy cities of India, Benaras is the oldest and holiest. Sprawling over a distance of three miles along the river Ganga, the city has more than one thousand temples.
