| Abstract | This paper aims to analyze the effects of stimulating and blocking factors for childhood creativity development in the primary education and the teacher ́s role as a facilitator in the creative process. Based on a literature review of creativity and human development constructs and using the Adams ́ model, the determinant factors for creativity development in the childhood context were identified. The case of an educational institution in the city of Sao Paulo is also presented aiming to bring some insights from the practice field related to creativity-based childhood development. The results show that the creativity stimulating and blocking factors are relevant for cognitive and emotional childhood development. It is argued that the teacher has an important role in this process, since his interventions reduce the inhibiting factors and stimulate creativity.
