| Abstract | This research aims to analyze the participation of librarians in the processes of information flow in Brazilian companies. With a descriptive character, it uses as technical procedures the bibliographic research and the data collection. The analysis of the performance of librarians as information manager will occur through a bibliographic survey in the databases. It analyzes the vacancies offered for librarians in sites specialized in job offers. It uses as a source the survey the 150 best companies to work in 2017. Through the data obtained by sending an electronic questionnaire identifies those responsible for information management in companies and thus analyzes the performance of the librarian in the flow of information in corporate institutions. Results: of the retrieved articles, those that approach the performance of the librarian in the business market, report that despite having the competence to manage the information the librarian still does not have great presence in the Brazilian market. The vacancies analyzed corroborate the results obtained in the bibliographic survey, most of the vacancies are to work in libraries performing traditional librarianship activities and not strategic assignments. Of the 150 companies, 6 answered the questionnaire and the data obtained also indicate the absence of the librarian acting in the companies in managerial activities. It is concluded that even though the librarian has the competencies to exercise information management, he is not yet recognized by the companies as an information manager. It is suggested that the next studies investigate what can be done to change this scenario. |
