Abstract	RTCA DO-178B standard provides guidelines about software development for airborne systems and equipment in order to satisfy airworthiness safety requirements. Software development process is affected by the criticality level determination of the software to produce, particularly for software verification, software configuration management and software quality assurance. This paper explores how CMC Electronics Inc., a high-technology electronics products designer and manufacturer involved in the aviation field, uses peer reviews as a software verification technique. The various peer review approaches are presented. A specific peer review approach is chosen depending on the criticality of an application and the type of work product to review. An example of a peer review type matrix is presented for various application criticalities.
