Abstract	Every ship has a 'home port.' Regardless of where it may travel, which oceans it may cross, or at which ports it may dock, the central location or 'point of registry' is displayed proudly on its hull. As with every ship leaving port on a new adventure, the captain navigates the seas successfully armed with a plotted course, a dedicated and experienced crew, and a plan to expect the unexpected. The captain relies on the partnerships formed on the seas, and the professional yet adventurous spirit of those along for the ride. In early 2009, the Savannah College of Art and Design announced their newest path to adventure. An opportunity unlike any they had navigated in the past 30 years of their existence. Tasked to be the first United States university to open a dedicated location in Hong Kong and the only university in Hong Kong focused exclusively on art and design, SCAD will provide a full course offering in nine majors by fall 2010. Directed by their known standards of providing consistent, high level service and technology, managing the technology related purchases, training and support from their home port in Savannah was uncharted waters. Review how SCAD utilized their proven plans, which consists of a policy of centralized procurement for IT purchases with a pre-approval request process, strong industry partnerships, their college-wide technology policy, centralized staff and faculty training, and one-stop technology support center to keep the flow and growth moving.
