| Abstract | The social, cultural and economic situation in Spain during the last years has diversified the field of information and mass media. Many of them have found in crowdfunding not only a financial alternative, but an instrument to know the opinion of the potential audience and to test the product before it is launched in the market. Along with these changes, it emerges the slow journalism, an tendency that has the purpose to go deeply into the events and brings us an outlying point of view away from the breaking news. This essay presents the study case of two digital media that combine both tendencies: the newspaper El Español and the magazine Revista 5W. Through this investigation, both media are analyzed with their own crowdfunding campaigns, with the purpose of understand and find connections between these cramped phenomena in a particular context. The analysis material comprises interviews, press releases and content of each media, sustained with a specific theoretical framework. The results pay special attention to crowdfunding campaigns, reader role, advertising, new dynamic labor and the possibility of these digital initiatives have in acquiring a higher independence from political power and advertising companies. |
