| Abstract | The city of Romans is involved in an integrated approach of its sewer networks and of the sewer systems of the agglomeration. The project strategy is based on the installation of continuous measurement stations to quantify pollutants loads in the networks and at external town inlets. The pollution is degraded in the treatment plant. During rainy events, the waste water flows are regulated by combined sewer overflows. The discharges in the receiving medium are quantified. This paper details the several steps : bibliography research ; choice, installation and maintenance of the sensors ; filtering of raw data produces by the sensors and correlations with the pollutant concentrations measured in laboratory, calculation of pollutants loads and associated uncertainties. A turbidimeter and a UV-visible spectrometer provide with an acceptable uncertainty the loads of TSS, COD and dissolved sulphurs. The associated use of a conductimeter with a turbidimeter improves the estimation of COD linked to dissolved pollutants. Those data can be used for real time monitoring and control of sewer systems or to complete the daily self control and reglementary mass balance. |
