| Abstract | The following work intends to analyze the resulting conflict between freedom of speech and its reflections on human rights protection, considering specifically hate speech cases which proliferate over the internet. Especially after social media became popular, cases of disrespect to the principle of human dignity has multiplied and the idea behind that kind of intolerant speech is freedom of expression. This study seeks to outline an overview of this scenario, as well as the possible consequences of the expansion of this behavior online. It also performs an analysis of the potential ways of judicial and extrajudicial opposition to those actions. Being the last, Federal Government action thru the #HumanizaRedes website. It is therefore, a attempt to show the possible damages to individuals when virtual environment becomes place of intolerance, as well as the possible measures to mitigate losses, without resulting in diminution of individual rights. |
