| Abstract | PIMENTEL, Raquel Guedes. "AND NOW WHAT, JOSÉ?": recently graduated young psychologists during the professional insertion pro cess in the labour market. 2007. 93 f. Thesis (Master's degree in Psychology) Pos-Gradua tion Program in Psychology in the Federal University of Santa Catarina, 2007. This research had as a goal to comprehend how the r ecently graduated psychologists youths live their insertion to the labour market in the ar a of the Great Florianópolis – Santa Catarina state Brasil. The participants of this research w ere 7 psychologists, whose the time of graduation varied from the recent graduation to two years. Five of them were women and two were men, with ages between 24 and 28 years old. Th e research was of qualitative nature, and the instrument for the information collection was a emi-structured interview. The technique used to treat the discoveries of this study was the content analysis. Through that analysis, three great themes were identified: the insertion p rocess into the labour market, the feelings lived during the insertion process and the constitu tion of the professional identity. As of those themes, the following categories emerged: (1) the p sychologists perceptions on the labour market, (2) the insertion strategies, (3) the unive rsity role; (4) low self-esteem, (5) fear, (6) anxiety, (7) anguish, (8) depression, (9) frustrati on; (10) the end of the nexus between them and the university, (11) the insertion as a transit ion for adult life; and (12) insertion as a statement of the professional identity. The confron tation of the existent expectations just after the graduation with the adversities found in the pr ofessional insertion attempts marked to the subjectivity of those new psychologists in a striki ng way, as they came across the contradictions in the current work world. The subje ctive consequences of that process for most of those people were: the disturbance of the s elf-e teem, anxiety, depression, a shock in the professional identity, insecurity, anguish, fea r front the future, shame and guilty. They used as insertion strategies: the sending of curric ulum vitae through Internet for the private companies, the participation in public concourses f or vacancies in Psychology or positions that just demanded the high school, voluntary works and the extension of studies. To summarize, the professional insertion difficulties have printed in those recently graduated professionals an impact into their professional ide ntiti s because they were not getting to materialize the knowledge learned during the gradua tion course in working as psychologists. |
