| Abstract | EnglishThe study investigated the perceived amount of information about the desired profession, the degree of decision and the career exploration behavior of students of a popular pre-university course, in order to identify possible contributions of Psychology to vocational issues. The research inclu- ded 54 young people, predominantly aged 17 years and monthly household income from 1 to 3 minimum wages. Besides a form containing personal data, in which we examined the amount of information and level of decision in relation to career choice, we used a Scale of career exploration. The results were organized using SPSS for Windows XP and it was evident that, although 63% of students considered themselves informed, most of them (71%) had not defined their career choice, and even among the decided students, 76% also admitted having doubts. Their exploratory beha- vior was focused more on the exploration of themselves than on the environment (occupational rea- lity). There was a significant correlation between the exploitation of the environment, the amount of information and level of decision. These data corroborate the literature in the area, suggesting con- tributions within the Educational Psychology and Vocational Guidance, which, given the Brazilian context, may include, also, students from lower classes. portuguesA pesquisa objetivou investigar a quantidade de informacao percebida sobre a profissao pre- tendida, o grau de decisao e o comportamento de exploracao vocacional em estudantes de um curso pre-vestibular popular, no intuito de identificar possiveis contribuicoes da Psicologia para a pro- blematica vocacional. |
