| Abstract | This article analyzes the body values of 26 Physical Education (PE) teachers related to the values showed by 536 of their First year Bachillerato students in the Castilla y Leon region of Spain during the academic year 2014/15. Similarities and divergences are established in order to describe the specific characteristics of PE body values. The instrument of measurement is the test devised by Casares and Collados (1998), structured by 250 items organized into 10 categories which define body values. In the treatment of data two different procedures are used, by words and by body values and, within each of them, two different analyzes, by frequencies and by mean values. The differences between PE teachers and students highlighted by each methodology are different. The methodology of average values is considered the most opportune for the objective pursued. This shows statistically significant differences in 7 of the 10 values of the body (biological, intellectual, social-affective, ecological, ethical, dynamic and aesthetic). However, the repercussion at the hierarchical level is scarce since there is only an inversion of positions between 2 values (dynamic and aesthetic, being the dynamic value more pleasant for PE teachers). PE teachers can influence, from their professional exercise of their area, on the body values of their students, as Martinez-Alvarez y GonzalezCalvo (2016) indicate, so it becomes essential to reflect on the educational act in all its implications and, if possible, a specific intervention program. |
