| Abstract | Dancing is an activity that comprises the curriculum of physical education in the school context, it is related in the contents of the cross-cutting theme: Cultural plurality, and intends to take the students to recognize cultural diversity as assets, its importance and, especially, causing them to value, respect and live with the differences. This work had as objective to analyze how the Physical education class can provide knowledge about the diversity and establish a debate on "cultural pluralism" through the content. The methodology was based on the principles of qualitative research-descriptive nature interpretive. The results showed that the existing preconceptions at the beginning of the intervention in relation to dance, were the result of ignorance of the students regarding this content and gender issues related to the practice of this activity. In this respect the role of the teacher is essential to overcome stigmas prevailing in the educational and social context |
