| Description | Journal: Journal of Physics F: Metal Physics Mossbauer conversion electron scattering is used to analyse the phases present in gold-iron alloys produced by$ ^{57}$Fe implantation at incident doses between $5*10^{15}$ and $5*10^{16}$ ion $cm^{-2}$. The resulting spectra are compared with those for similar alloys produced by solution quenching. For the lower incident doses it is found that the distribution of the implanted iron atoms is essentially random. However for the higher doses the effects of sputtering on the alloy composition are noted. Ageing of these alloy indicates that the iron atoms migrate away from the implanted layer at about 300 degrees C. |
