| Abstract | In the recent trends the electrical grid is being interconnected with various types of non-conventional energy sources like solar, wind, etc. Some of the sources like wind turbine generators are vulnerable to grid side voltage sags and short circuits. This paper provides the new LVRT (Low Voltage Ride Through) solution for balanced and unbalanced grid faults in an electrical power system network. Till now “Sen” Transformer was used as a power flow controller. In this paper the Sen Transformer is used as a series voltage compensator under fault condition. The simulated model of the “Sen” Transformer during the balanced and unbalanced grid faults for maintaining the voltage stability of the system is presented so that the sensitive load will stay connected to the grid and the grid will not lose its synchronism during the fault and normal operation can be continued after the fault .The proposed solution is proven to be reliable and cost-effective when compared with the emerging technology of dynamic voltage restorer (DVR). |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
