Abstract	This paper presents a reduced Li-Ion battery charger design for portable applications. The charger supplies the trickle current, large constant current, and constant voltage to a Li-Ion battery in order for the safety charging. The charger is designed using the technology of low dropout voltage regulator associated with TSMC 0.35μm 2P4M CMOS process and the whole circuits are simulated by HSPICE. Experimental results provide the trickle current of 304mA, maximum charging current of 711mA, and charging voltage of 4.2V at the power supply of 5V. The power efficiency of 67.4% is acceptable under the power consumption of 851mW. The chip area including pads is 1.1×1.1 $mm^{2}$ and the total number of transistors is 164.
