NDLI: Survey on Air-Conditioner Using Habits of Dwellers in Guangzhou

Abstract	It is well known that the real energy consumption of a room air-conditioner is greatly dependent on the way how it is used, i.e. the application behaviors. Such behaviors should be taken into account during air-conditioner design. Therefore, an air-conditioner customer survey of living habits and on-the-spot tests of application behaviors of 100air conditioners were carried out in Guangzhou from June2009 to August 2010. Many important operation parameters have been measured, such as electricity consumption, air conditioning operating date and time, indoor and outdoor temperatures as well, with different users. The survey focuses on the relationship between air conditioner usage patterns and dweller background information. By analyzing some data, it indicated that the outdoor temperature had a direct impact on the turn-on temperature of the air-conditioners and indoor air temperature setting. Furthermore, the lifestyle of the occupants may also effected the air-conditioners¡¯ using behaviors. The running time of air-conditioners vs. outdoor temperature curves in Guangzhou is further presented and analyzed in details. Differences between these curves in Guangzhou and Chinese new energy efficiency standards (draft) were compared.
