| Abstract | Hybrid pumped storage power station refers to the general hydropower station combined with reversible pumped storage units, which can accomplish such functions as energy storage, power generation, peak clipping and valley filling, and etc. The energy reserve will become a significant aspect on the process of constructing the strong smart grid, and pumped storage power station, serves as a kind of storage measures, could alleviate the peak load and distribute the power effectively. Correspondingly, the operational flexibility of the smart grid will be improved greatly. Thus, it is essential to make a study on the optimizing operation of hybrid pumped storage power station. Under full consideration of the natural incoming water flow in the past several years of a reservoir, we build a model aimed at annual maximum generating power minus the pumping-consumed power without considering the peak and valley price. According to the regulation characteristics of the reservoir, we select the dry, normal, high flow year using method of frequent selection. Meanwhile, depending on each types of typical year, with a year as an optimization cycle, this paper uses the dynamic programming algorithm that uses average generated flow and the pumping time in each phase, this two parameters as the control variations to work out the better operation water level and pumping time for the reservoir under the known condition of the initial or last reservoir storage (water level). The final result presents that the water level will rise, and we can also obtain the maximum additional generation matched with corresponding pumping "head" produced by additional reversible pumped storage units, bring the increasing of output. Meanwhile, the longer the time we spend in pumping water, the more annual generated energy we will get. However, because of the usage of pumped storage units, which also consume certain electrical energy. Consequently, the pure generated energy will be less than the one without using the pumped storage units. Hence, this type of originations of the power station is so flexible that its optimizing operation is much more significative to the future regulation and control of generated energy. |
