| Abstract | Fast diagnosis of commutation failure in HVDC systems can improve the level of operation in the power systems. It is also the base to realize the prevention of commutation failure. By application of wavelet transform, the rapidity and correctness of faults diagnosing are enhanced. AC voltage and DC voltage in inverter side are taken as the signals for wavelet analysis. Wavelet coefficient d6 changed suddenly when fault occurred. This paper studied a diagnosing method based on the variance of wavelet coefficient d6. With moving sample windows, the sampling signals in the windows are analyzed with wavelet and the variance of wavelet coefficient d6 in real time. Therefore, the fault diagnoses are realized in real-time. The functions are realized in MATLAB/Simulink. The results of simulations show that the method can output the alarm signals after about half cycle when fault occurred. It can also tell out the AC fault without CF and DC line fault with CF fault. Above all, the diagnosing method using wavelet analysis ameliorates the rapidity and correctness of faults diagnosing. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
