Abstract | The FePt-C granular films for HAMR application have been developed by using the in-line sputter system. The microstructure development of the FePt-C granular films with different C contents was investigated. It was found that both the grain shape and the grain aspect ratio varied with increasing C content. The desired microstructure of FePt based granular film with well-isolated columnar grains was obtained for FePt granular film with 60 vol.% C doping. The mean grain size is nm and the grain aspect ratio is larger than 1. The developed FePt-C granular film with well-isolated FePt grains has the potential to be used as the recording media for HAMR application. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
