Description | Four-panel comic strip showing Pete, an old bearded prospector, and his young friend Kid Slim questioning a bearded old whiskey maker whom they have tied up after he fired at them from his cabin in an effort to protect his still. They then discover that the screeching noise that has been frightening them comes from the trunks of two trees that have been rubbing together in the wind. The strip, published in the Newark Evening News from Mar. 29-Oct. 2, 1926, was based on the cartoonist's experiences prospecting in the Klondike. |
