Description | Five-panel comic strip showing Pete, an old bearded prospector, standing on a ledge above a canyon. Sal, his faithful burro, sits on a bluff opposite him. Pete begins to hurl rocks over the side, eventually starting a rock slide that fills the canyon, allowing him to climb down and across. He tells Sal, "Told ye I'd get back." The strip, published in the Newark Evening News from Mar. 29-Oct. 2, 1926, was based on the cartoonist's experiences prospecting in the Klondike. |
