Description | Four-panel comic strip showing Pete, an old bearded prospector, and his partner Slim, trying to shoot a bear. Both claim to have hit the bear, but when Slim goes to investigate, the bear suddenly rears up. In the last panel, Pete tells his burro, "Slim sure was powerful fast -- which shows he had one good point, Sal. I don't think that b'ar ever ketched him." The strip, published in the Newark Evening News from Mar. 29-Oct. 2, 1926, was based on the cartoonist's experiences prospecting in the Klondike. |
