The present paper shows the results of an exploratory analysis about the social corporate responsibility in the Portuguese financial sector and, in particular, about the selling of the so called “solidarity“ financial products, using as a starting point the direct observation of the information websites of the 45 banks which are in the Register of Entities of the Bank of Portugal. This process is completed with on-line consultation through e-mail to the clients’ atention service of each institution.Taking into account the scarcity of these kind of products (although there are various institutions which develop an active policy of social responsibility), we come to the conclusion that the Portuguese case follows the path of the anglosaxon and european countries, although with a certain delay. The bigger importance given to the social responsibility it is not a burden for continuing working in this field. |
