| Abstract | Objective: To present 10 years of experience in the management of bilateral breast cancer at the Oncology Unit of the Hospital Juarez de Mexico. Setting: Oncology Unit, Hospital Juarez de Mexico Design: Longitudinal, retrospective, observational, and clinical study. Statistical analysis: We applied a parametric statistical test to determine means between independent groups. Material and methods: We reviewed 550 clinical records of patients diagnosed with breast cancer treated at the Oncology Unit. The study included a total of 16 patients diagnosed between January 1994 and December 2004. Results: Incidence of bilateral breast cancer at our service was of 2.9%, which is very similar to that reported in the world literature. Metachronous tumors were more frequent (10 patients, 62.5%) with a 1.8% incidence vs 6 patients (37.5%) and a 1.09% incidence of synchronous tumors. Average age at |
