| Abstract | The aims of this research is to analyze result of the student's work in resolving problem about word problem. The method of this research is descriptive method in form of case study. The subject of the research is from VIII class of SMP Negeri 6 Pontianak which amounted to 6 students. The results of data analysis that strategies of problem-solving used shows strategies being applied by the students such as are thinking logically, find patterns, and symbolic model used by 6 students, picture's assistance used by 4 students, estimation used by 1 students, and moving backward used by 2 students. There are two kinds of problem solving phases being applied among students such as are 4 students perform 3 phases of problem-solving, while 2 students perform 2 phases of problem-solving and there is difference at strategy, and phases of problem-solving being applied by students from top academic ability, middle academic ability, and low academi cability. |
