| Abstract | With the development of technologies that support human-computer interaction there is the intensive use of touch sensitive devices. This innovative environment provides a remarkable breakthrough and a broadening of the possibilities of interaction by using more direct and intuitive manipulation of objects present information on screen. Even with these advances, it remains a reality for limiting the population blind, the existence of unequal access and speed of obtaining the content available on the web, particularly in distance education systems, since in general these environments do not have adequate access to treatment and not have to use touch-sensitive surfaces. This research suggests regular use of the multi-touch features combined with accessibility in the development of interfaces for distance learning environments, and proposes a reference architecture for software development, materialized by a set of development guidelines called Design GUIDANCE. The Design GUIDANCE is a reference tool to be used by designers in building the presentation layer of virtual learning systems, which favors the performance improvement of accessibility and usability for blind users. The product of this dissertation is the result of extensive research that has endeavored to explore the combination of guidelines and guides accessibility / usability presented by industry and regulatory bodies with reference studies acquired during the literature review, which served as the foundation for the development of the Design GUIDANCE. These guidelines promote the adequacy of resources of the touch screens to universal standards of accessibility and are applied in the development of virtual environments for distance learning. During the development of this dissertation was conducted using the guidelines of practical guidance, in developing a solution in the presentation layer of a virtual system of education - Amadeus System. The interface prototype was developed in HTML5 and subjected to a quantitative and qualitative evaluation for visually impaired users through field research. An analysis and interpretation of results was performed and confirmed the perception and acceptance of improvements the new model of interaction by these users. As an additional result, we identified opportunities for improvement and suggested future work in assistive technology aimed at blind people in the use of Virtual Learning Systems. |
